Les cinq premiers à s'être présentés devant le gourou ont reçu le titre de panj pyaras, les cinq bien-aimés; ayant été baptisés, ils ont été ensuite priés par le gourou de l'admettre au sein du panth en lui administrant l'amrit, c'est-à-dire en le baptisant.
The first five who offered themselves to the guru were called panj pyaras, or the five beloved ones. They were baptized and then were requested by the guru to admit him into the panth by administering amrit to him, or baptizing him.
