The references made in Article 54, point (a) must be also expressed in braille format on the packaging or on the package leaflet, so that blind and partially-sighted people also have access to this vital information.

3. Member States shall ensure that, 24 months after entry into force of this Directive, with a view to achieving a high rate of collection, producers appropriately mark electrical and electronic equipment, which might normally be disposed of in rubbish bins or similar means of municipal waste collection, and their instructions for use, with the symbol shown in Annex IV. In exceptional cases, where this is necessary because of the size or the function of the product, the symbol shall be printed on the packaging, on the instructions for use and on the warranty of the electrical and electronic equipment.

Member States shall permit items 3(c), (e), (f), (h), (i), (j) and (l) to be carried elsewhere on the packaging or on an accompanying leaflet integral to the packaging.

2. The EC mark of conformity, as shown in Annex 9, must appear in a visible, legible and indelible form on the sterile pack and, where appropriate, on the sales packaging, if any, and on the instruction leaflet.

The label shall not be required for transparent containers if the official document inside gives the information required under subparagraph (a) and can be read through the container.
