En 1952, le traité CECA a créé les conditions nécessaires pour l'établissement du marché commun du charbon et de l'acier, préfigurant ainsi l'extension du marché commun, cinquante ans plus tard, aux autres secteurs industriels et assurant les approvisionnements dans la Communauté par la promotion de l'expansion régulière et de la modernisation de la production, en même temps que l'on s'efforçait d'améliorer les conditions de vie et de travail de la main-d'oeuvre concernée.
In 1952 the ECSC Treaty created the conditions for the establishment of the common market in coal and steel, thus prefiguring its extension half a century later to the other industrial sectors and ensuring supplies in the Community via the promotion of ordered expansion and the modernization of production, hand in hand with efforts to improve the living and working conditions of the workers concerned.
