It is proposed that work towards the development of a common information sharing environment should be carried out in the framework of the Commission's Member States Expert Group on Integration of Maritime Surveillance, in compatibility with other ongoing work in sectoral groups and Committees within their respective competences.

Supports the adoption at the EU-US Economic Ministerial Meeting of the joint EU-US Work Programme for the implementation of the Economic Declaration, which contains concrete activities in eleven areas to move forward transatlantic economic integration; calls, however, on both partners to engage in genuine implementation and deepening of this joint Work Programme with a greater and more ambitious sense of direction, long- term strategic objectives and a detailed timetable for the implementation of joint actions and projects that takes into account the specific role of independent regulatory agencies; notes in this respect that stake ...[+++]holders from the already established transatlantic dialogues, including consumer groups, unions and environmental groups, should be more actively involved in the process of monitoring and reviewing the Economic Initiative and Work Programme;

The Commission concludes that, in view of the complex environment described in the Working Paper, and differing perceptions revealed by the public consultation, the review's aim is to determine whether there is now a case to propose making one or more API standards mandatory for one or more segments of the market.

To strengthen the cooperation between labour inspectorates, SLIC decided to set up a working group to prepare a simple permanent network for the exchange of information, in particular on the content of different educational demands with regards to the performance of work requiring special qualifications; enforcement in relation to enterprises that infringe the rules; mutual assistance on criminal law; management of new, broader and more complex working environment problems; ...[+++] and exchange of labour inspectors.

The initial ideas and approaches presented here are the results of consultations with cities and other stakeholders, independent expert working groups and the EU Expert Group on the Urban Environment.

Effective environment integration requires networking between the core groups - between those who work full or part-time on environment in economic and development co-operation, and the other staff of the Commission.
