Welcomes, in particular, the HLWG’s recommendation that the EU and the US address the environment and labour aspects of trade and sustainable development; considers that the experience of previous EU trade agreements and the long-lasting EU-US commitments should be taken into account in order to strengthen the development and enforcement of labour and environmental laws and policies and promote the core standards and benchmarks laid down by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), as well as decent jobs and sustainable developmen ...[+++]t; encourages the harmonisation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards; recognises that achieving common standards is likely to present both technical and political challenges, and emphasises that the common goal should be to ensure that there is no diminution of environmental ambitions;

Supports the adoption at the EU-US Economic Ministerial Meeting of the joint EU-US Work Programme for the implementation of the Economic Declaration, which contains concrete activities in eleven areas to move forward transatlantic economic integration; calls, however, on both partners to engage in genuine implementation and deepening of this joint Work Programme with a greater and more ambitious sense of direction, long- term strategic objectives and a detailed timetable for the implementation of joint actions and projects that takes into account the specific role of independent regulatory agencies; notes in this respect that stake ...[+++]holders from the already established transatlantic dialogues, including consumer groups, unions and environmental groups, should be more actively involved in the process of monitoring and reviewing the Economic Initiative and Work Programme;

To this effect, the Member States should support the work of the Expert Group on Emergency Access in defining common European requirements for emergency call routing and handling, handling of emergency calls originating from mobile terminals without SIM, providing adequate language support, and on longer term, handling of VoIP emergency calls and handling emergency calls for people with disabilities.

First the Public Health Preparedness and Response Planning Group (PRPG) of the Health Security Committee as set out in the working paper of the Commission of March 2004, has to undertake a number of tasks such as exchanging information, communicating and reviewing existing national preparedness and response plans and providing advice on gaps and co-ordination needs between national plans, sharing expertise and good practice with other groups working on preparedness plans, and setting up groups to advise on particular aspects of contin ...[+++]gency planning.

The Joint Working Group ( Transport /Environment): In June 1998, the Cardiff European Council invited the Transport, Energy and Agriculture Councils to develop strategies to promote environmental integration and sustainable development within their respective policy areas.

To strengthen the cooperation between labour inspectorates, SLIC decided to set up a working group to prepare a simple permanent network for the exchange of information, in particular on the content of different educational demands with regards to the performance of work requiring special qualifications; enforcement in relation to enterprises that infringe the rules; mutual assistance on criminal law; management of new, broader and more complex working environment problems; and exchange of labour inspectors.
