(2) Despite paragraphs (1)(b) and (c), a business may store a prohibited firearm, other than a prohibited handgun, or a component or part of a prohibited firearm if it is stored in a location the security of which is equal or superior to the places, locations and premises described in subparagraphs (1)(b)(i) to (iii) and paragraph (1)(c) and that is approved in writing by the chief firearms officer who issued a licence to the business.

(3) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, but subject to section 117.1, no individual who is employed by a carrier, as defined in subsection 2(1) of the Firearms Act, is guilty of an offence under this Act or that Act by reason only that the individual, in the course of the individual’s duties or employment, possesses any firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, ammunition or prohibited ammunition or trans ...[+++]fers, or offers to transfer any such thing.

Perhaps there will be another bill with this amendment to decriminalize the sanction for not registering, but in any event, if Bill C-391 is defeated and the long-gun registry is to carry on in its existing form—or in any form, for that matter—I think it's to be assumed that it's going to cost millions and millions of dollars, if not close to a billion, to bring it back up to speed and make it even remotely accurate and reflective of the current state of gun ownership in this country.
