The two countries have now agreed to approve each other's videotex terminals, thus pooling two previously separate markets, and to hook up the necessary connections between Teletel and Bildschirmtext. Until the introduction of a new generation of internationally interoperable videotex, this is at least a good start on opening up a significant part of the terminal marke. This agreement follows a complaint brought to the Commission by France.
En raison d'une caractéristique du terminal MINITEL - dans lequel le modem est intégré et ne peut être clairement individualisé - la Bundespost a invoqué cette situation pour refuser son agrément au MINITEL. A la suite d'une plainte adressée par la France à la Commission européenne, les deux pays ont à présent accepté d'agréer les terminaux de Videotex du voisin, ce qui permettra d'accéder par le réseau téléphonique, à partir de chaque pays, au réseau Videotex de l'autre.
