The measure aims to improve water quality in the Netherlands by limiting phosphate production from dairy cattle manure and promote a shift to land-based farming.

The United States is listed in Part 2 of Annex II to Decision 2007/777/EC as authorised, inter alia, for the introduction into the Union of commodities obtained from poultry, farmed feathered game (except ratites), farmed ratites and wild game birds, which have undergone a non-specific treatment, as set out in Part 4 of that Annex, (‘treatment A’) subject to the condition that the meat from which the products were produced complies with the animal health requirements for fresh meat including its origin from a third country or parts thereof that are free from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) as provided for in the model animal and ...[+++] public health certificate set out in Annex III to Decision 2007/777/EC.

Where the rearing period referred to in point (a) is not attained in any of the Members States or third countries where the animal was reared, the indication referred to in point (a) shall be replaced by ‘Reared in: several Member States of the EU’ or, where the meat or the animals have been imported into the Union, by ‘Reared in: several non-EU countries’ or ‘Reared in: several EU and non-EU countries’.

However, where the rearing period referred to in point (a) is not attained in any of the Member States or third countries where the animal was reared, the indication referred to in point (a) may be replaced by ‘Reared in: (list of the Member States or third countries where the animal was reared)’ if the food business operator proves to the satisfaction of the competent authority that the animal was reared in those Member States or third countries.

Following outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in certain areas of Israel, Decision 2007/777/EC, as amended by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 532/2012 (4), provides that imports into the Union of meat products and treated stomachs, bladders and intestines of poultry, farmed feathered game, farmed ratites and wild game birds are authorised from the areas of that third country affected by the outbreak only if they have been subjected to the specific treatment ‘D’, pursuant to Part 4 of Annex II to Decision 2007/777/EC.
