It must not be a bargaining chip to obtain certain modifications of the agricultural policy or to resolve other problems, and I therefore congratulate the Spanish Presidency on having done such good work and I directly condemn those governments, with Socialist majorities, which are exploiting the enlargement procedure, which this Parliament and European society are very attached to, to obtain agreements on other issues which they have few reasons for, by trying to strengthen their case by making their position conditional.
Il ne doit pas s'agir d'une monnaie d'échange pour obtenir certaines modifications de la politique agricole commune ou pour résoudre d'autres problèmes. C'est pourquoi, je félicite la présidence espagnole pour la manière dont elle travaille et je dénonce clairement les gouvernements, parfois à majorité socialiste, qui utilisent le processus d'élargissement, cher aux yeux de ce Parlement et de la société européenne, pour obtenir des accords dans d'autres domaines dans lesquels ils n'ont peut-être pas raison, essayant de renforcer leur position en conditionnant leur avis.
