Cell or tissue transplantation is a process which involves retrieving cells or tissue from an organism and - possibly after several interim stages - implanting them either into the same organism (autologous transplantation) or into another organism (allogenous transplantation), in order to improve or restore a function of a destroyed tissue, e.g. transplantation of the cornea, vessels, skin or bone marrow.
Une transplantation de cellules ou de tissus correspond au prélèvement de cellules ou de tissus sur un organisme et – éventuellement après plusieurs étapes intermédiaires – à la réimplantation soit dans le même organisme (transplantation autologue) soit dans un autre organisme (transplantation allogène), dans le but d'améliorer ou de rétablir la fonction d'un tissu abîmé, par exemple transplantation de cornée, de vaisseaux, de peau ou de moelle osseuse.
