Mr. Speaker, I recently returned from South Africa where the leaders of the African National Congress, the legendary anti-Apartheid movement that is now celebrating its centenary, reported to me how they were denied visas to Canada on security grounds and felt it painful if not insulting to have to apply for an exceptional waiver.
Monsieur le Président, je suis récemment allé en Afrique du Sud, où les dirigeants du Congrès national africain — on parle bien ici du célèbre mouvement historique anti-apartheid, qui célèbre présentement son centième anniversaire — m'ont dit que le Canada avait refusé de leur octroyer des visas pour des motifs de sécurité. Ils ont été blessés, sinon insultés, d'être obligés de présenter une demande de dispense de nature exceptionnelle.
